Apiculture Training program held in Reasi under HADP

A one day Training programme under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme was held today here in the meeting hall of sub division agriculture office Reasi. A total of 50 farmers, including farm women from different blocks participated in the training session.

The Chief Agriculture Officer Harbans Singh discussed in detail the scope of apiculture which is still untapped in District Reasi. He laid thrust on rearing honey bees and expansion of apiculture units by provision of subsidy.

He said honey is not only a delicious natural sweetener but also boasts numerous health benefits, rich in antioxidants, enzymes and antibacterial properties making it a valuable addition to our diets. The Farmers were trained about management and care of bee colonies for honey production and other bee related products.

He emphasized on promotion of sustainable apiculture practices which includes creating and preserving bee-friendly habitats, reducing the use of harmful pesticides and raising the importance of bees and their role in pollination. Thirty local farmers were registered on DAKSH KISAN – the online learning management system.

Programme was attended by Amit Sharma, District Agriculture Officer; Narinder Kumar, Incharge Apiculture Development Assistant; Kumar Gaurav, JAEO, Sarpanches, Panches and beekeepers.
