DC Samba reviews working of Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The meeting started with a brief presentation by Dr Rahul Dev, CAHO Samba(Member Secretary SPCA) regarding the working of SPCA and the importance of PCA (Care and maintenance of property animals) rules 2017 and Transport of animals (Amendment) rules, 2009.

The meeting was attended by ADC Samba, ACR Samba, DySP Hqrs Samba, CEO MC Samba and representatives from DFO Samba, GM DIC Samba, Wildlife Warden and DPO Samba.

The Chairman SPCA, Abhishek Sharma, (DM Samba) emphasized the importance of a fully functional SPCA in the district. He issued necessary instructions to all the attending departments to ensure five freedoms enshrined in the law for the animal welfare and that no cruelty is done against animals. He also laid stress on the Industries to ensure activities under Corporate Social Responsibility for the animal welfare. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Member Secretary Samba.
