The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired a meeting of the District-level NARCO Coordination Committee (NCORD) meeting to review the measures taken by the enforcement agencies to curb the drug abuse and narcotic trafficking in the district.

The meeting held threadbare discussion regarding various issues pertaining to incidence of drug addiction, areas of concern and hotspots of drug use, and action taken by the concerned departments with regard to curb the drugs menace.

The DC sought realistic data from all stakeholders regarding status of drug addiction and cultivation of restricted crops.

He directed all concerned to facilitate drug addicted persons for their medical treatment and recovery to save their precious lives.

While reviewing realistic database regarding cultivation of restricted crops, the DC directed the concerned to submit a factual report regarding the status of drug addiction and cultivation of restricted crops used for addiction.

The enforcement departments were directed to intensify inspection of chemist shops to restrict illegal transport, sale and distribution of psychotropic drugs and other banned substances in the district.

The meeting was attended by SSP Ganderbal, Nikhil Borkar; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mehraj-ud-Din Shah; CMO, Tehsildars and other concerned officers.
