DHEW Jammu organises awareness campaign on Govt women centric schemes at border Village Garkhal

Mission Shakti, District Hub for Empowerment of Women Jammu, under the guidance of Shagun Manchanda, District Mission Coordinator, DHEW, Jammu, organized an awareness programme regarding various women-centric schemes at border village Garkhal of Panchayat Akhnoor in the presence of the Sarpanch, Kashmir Singh.

Resource person, Arushi Jamwal, Gender Specialist of DHEW Jammu under Mission Shakti, discussed the need of holding such seminars on gender awareness. She informed the attendees of the numerous welfare programmes of the Indian Government, notably for women, and emphasizes the importance of gender awareness in order to advance gender equality.

Further Khushboo Kapthe, Gender Specialist, DHEW Jammu provided extensive information on a variety of women-centric Schemes & Services, such as scholarship schemes, SMAS (State Marriage Assistance Scheme)., Pension schemes for old age, women in Distress and physically disabled persons.

Eligibility criteria of different pension scheme, procedure to avail the benefits of different Government services & documents required for the enrollment were also informed. She also explained Schemes like Ladli Beti and Sukanya samriddhi Yojana for providing financial security to the girls. Emergency helpline numbers for women (181), child (1098), Elder line (14567) Drug De-addiction (14446) were also shared. Ms. Raj Kumari from Women Development Corporation J&K was also present and shared loan related schemes of her department.
