The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal, today observed a legal awareness programme on “World Day against Child Labour” at Vijay Memorial Educational Institute Ganderbal.

The programme was held under the supervision of Chairman DLSA Ganderbal, Ritesh Kumar Dubey, and under the guidance of Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, Nusrat Ali Hakak.

 

The main objective of this programme was to raise awareness and promote action towards ending child labour globally and also served as a platform to highlight the negative impacts of child labour on children’s physical and mental health, social development, and future opportunities.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Advocate S.M. Mustehseen addressing the participants, on the concerning issue of child labour stressed the importance of educating the children.

 

Furthermore, he emphasized the role of the DLSA Ganderbal in promoting legal literacy and creating awareness among the students about the legal provisions and mechanisms available to combat child labour. He also threw light about the negative impacts of child labour and emphasized the importance of education in shaping a better future for the children.

 

Sanjay Koul, Principal of Vijay Memorial Educational Institute highlighted the basic fundamental rights of children to education, protection from exploitation, and a safe and healthy environment to grow up in. Children are the future of the world, and it is the responsibility of everyone to protect them, they have a right to protection from physical, emotional, and mental abuse, and exploitation, he maintained.

 

The event was filled with informative speeches and interactive sessions and was a great success.

 

DLSA Ganderbal expressed hope that these efforts will result in a positive impact and serve as a catalyst for change, against child labour and work towards a brighter future for all children.

 

The event was attended by Principal, teachers, staff members and students of Vijay Memorial Educational Institute, Ganderbal, Panel Lawyer and PLVs of DLSA, Ganderbal.
