SRINAGAR: June, 7th, Srinagar: Directorate of Skill Development, J&K successfully organized a one-day placement fair at Government Polytechnic for Women, Srinagar on Wednesday.   The event welcomed graduates from Polytechnics and ITIs of Kashmir division. Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, Principal Secretary to the Government, Skill Development Department graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the fair, which saw the participation of 40 renowned companies. During the event, the anthem of the Polytechnic College was also unveiled by Dr. Samoon. In his opening speech, Dr. Samoon emphasized the Skill Development Department’s commitment to providing high-quality skill education and creating maximum employment opportunities for students. He urged the attendees to take full advantage of such placement programs to enhance their employability and self-reliance. Dr. Samoon further stated, “The department has conducted a comprehensive curriculum review of the polytechnic colleges and ITIs. Based on the findings, we will modify the existing curriculum or introduce new skill courses to align with the job market’s requirements.” Dr. Samoon also interacted with representatives from participating companies and industrial bodies, and encouraged to provide valuable feedback regarding their human resource needs which will be considered to fine-tune future placement programs. Mr. Sudershan Kumar, Director, Skill Development Department, presided over the event and commended the Principal, Government Polytechnic for Women (GPW), Srinagar Er. Mohammad Shafi Bhat and his staff for their contribution in organizing the placement drive. He emphasized the importance of motivating youth and urged the staff to continue their efforts in maximizing the benefits of department-initiated programs. In this drive, 1940 students were registered and 485 candidates were shortlisted while as 40 companies participated in the event. Er. Mohammad Shafi Bhat, Principal, GPW, Srinagar presented the welcome address and expressed his gratitude to the worthy Principal Secretary, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon to take out time from his busy schedule to grace the occasion with his august presence and boosting morale of all the participants. He further thanked Director, Skill Development Department Mr. Sudershan Kumar for providing all necessary support and guidance in organizing this event. The event was attended by Secretary, Board of Technical Education Ms. Shaista Shamim, Principals of Kashmir Based Polytechnics including Er. Altaf Ahmad Shalla, Er. Imtiyaz Shaw, Er. Ashiq Nabi, Er. Altaf Gowhar, Er. Sajad Ahmad, Joint Director, Skill Development Department Er. Farooq Ahmad    and senior officers of Polytechnics and ITIs. Professor, Indian Institute of Management, Jammu Mr. Muqbil Burhan, State Engagement Officer, National Skill Development Corporation, J&K Ms. Kahkashan Anjum, representatives of Entrepreneur Development Institute and J&K Bank also participated in the program.
