SHOPIAN, JUNE 07: In order to listen and redress the grievances/ issues of people at their doorsteps, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb today presided over the Weekly Block Diwas programme at Harmain.

At the outset, BDO, Harmain, Dr. Irfan Ali outlined the development picture of the block and presented the current year Plan details. He said, more than 900 works are being taken up during this year in the block.

During the programme, various issues pertaining to rural development, development of sports infrastructure, strengthening of PHC, Harmain, DK Pora, introduction of new subjects in HSS and various other issues of horticulture, power supply, PMAY were put forth by public and public representatives of the areas for redressal.

Issues of public importance including availability of drinking water were brought into the notice of DDC, who committed to them that within a few months time, adequate and safe drinking water supply shall be provided to all people of the district.

He intimated that the mission of ‘Har Ghar Jal’ is the topmost priority of the government and the same shall be provided within timelines.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of people from various spheres of life and highlighted issues concerning them for appropriate Redressal.

The DDC gave a patient hearing to demands raised by people and directed the concerned officers to ensure prompt and speedy redressal of issues and demands of people. He gave on-the-spot directions to officers for meeting the demands of the people and fixed responsibilities for the same.

Various officers to whom issues pertained responded to queries and demands of the people and made people aware of many development works, schemes being implemented in the area.

The event was attended by DDC Members of the area, PRIs and the general public.

Among officers, SDM Zainapora, Mushtaq Ahmad; CEO, DIO, Exens, Tehsildar, BDO and several other district and tehsil officers and officials attended the Block Diwas.
