TANGHAR, KARNAH, Every year, on 31 May, the World Health Organization (WHO) and various other agencies celebrate World No Tobacco Day (WNTD). The annual campaign is an opportunity to raise awareness on the harmful and deadly effects of tobacco use and second-hand smoke exposure, and to discourage the use of tobacco in any form. On 31st May 2023, Youth Panchayat of Tangdhar village organised an awareness rally to discourage the consumption of tobacco in any form. The rally was organised in collaboration with a local Drug De-addiction unit and Indian Army where in the participants walked from Tangdhar to Khawarpara village to convey the message. The event saw participation from New Light Public School and Youth Panchayat members which accounted for 60 participants. To foster the concept of idea generation and holistic involvement of young students to fight the growing use of tobacco, an eassay writing competition too was organised. Miss Adeeba Mukhtar’s eassay was adjudged best amongst all and a small token of appreciation was handed to her. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Master Raina followed by interaction of participants over a cup of tea and scrumptious snacks on a cold rainy day.
