KUPWARA, MAY 15: Department of Social Forestry Kupwara today organized a Nature Walk from Tikker Kupwara in which a large number of students from different schools and PRIs took active part. The event was kick-started by Divisional Forestry Officer (DFO) Kupwara, Fayaz Ahmad in presence of DDC Member Hyhama, Haji Sonaullah Khan, Range Officers, Forest Protection Police, officials of Social Forestry, besides, a large number of students. During the event, the participants took a walk through the forests from Tikker to University Campus Wayan. The students were holding placards in their hands displaying “Say No Use to Plastic”, “Save Water Save Life”, “Reduce Waste”, “Stay Healthy Stay Safe” etc. On the occasion, the DFO Social Forestry said that the aim of organizing the nature walk was to aware the people especially young generation about the importance of forests and the need for its protection. DDC Member Hyhama also expressed his delight over organizing of the nature walk and said that he has got an opportunity to explore the forest in a professional way alongwith the experts. He added that the event will encourage others for exploring and protecting the nature’s treasure in the shape of forests. The event was successfully concluded at University Campus Wayan during which an oath was taken for protection and conservation of forests. Meanwhile, a cleanliness drive was also held in which students, PRIs, officers and police took part.
