In reciept of serious allegations of misappropriation & embezzlement of donations by private persons at Rayil Gund Kangan, Ganderbal, Chairperson Waqf, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi has ordered an enquiry into serious allegations levelled by the locals of Kangan Ganderbal. It has come to the fore that the Ziyarat Shareef of Hazrat Syed Jafar Sahab(R.A) & Others, located alongside the National Highway at Gund Kangan, witnesses a large footfall of commuters & donations have been offered by them abundantly in Cash & Kind over the years. However, locals have alleged that not even a Bank Account has been opened to deposit the donations, & there is a clear evidence to suggest that nothing has been spent on the improvement of infrastructure & facilities at the said Shrine. Pertinently, the Shrine alongwith its allied properties has been taken over by the J&K Waqf Board recently from the first of April this year, & work on infrastructure improvement has already been started at the Shrine under the instructions of Chairperson Waqf Board.
