SHOPIAN, APRIL 17: In order to inspire and encourage the newly eligible and prospective voters about the voter registration and electoral participation, a SVEEP Awareness programme was today organized at Govt. Hr. Secondary School Sedow Shopian.

The programme was organized by a team of election employees under the supervision of Dy. District Election Officer Shopian, Jahangir Ahmed.

On this occasion, a large gathering of teachers, students and other officers/ officials were briefed with the basic knowledge related to the electoral process.

Dy. District Election Officer elucidated the process of electoral registration and value of vote and stressed upon participants for their registration/modifications etc during the ongoing SSR.

The song dedicated by ECI “Main Bharat Hoon’’ was also played to inspire the participants.

Election NT and Booth level Officers were also present during the programme and shared their experiences among the participants.

A large number of forms viz. Form 6, Form 7 and Form 8 were also distributed among the students. The participants were also informed about the schedule issued by the Chief Election Officer J&K which commenced from 5th of April and shall continue up to 20th of April.

Further the BLOs were stressed to identify persons with disabilities and 80 years Plus voters and ensure that both the categories of voters are appropriately marked and flagged in the electoral roll.

At the end, a massive rally was held to spread voter awareness and promote voter literacy.
