Market checking drive intensified in kupwara

KUPWARA, APRIL 8: The Market Checking Squad under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner, Revenue (ACR), Kupwara, Irfan Bahadur today inspected various markets  of Kupwara Town including Regipora, Iqbal Market, Bye Pass, Baber Lane, Hajaj Market, Bus Stand and Old Chowk markets.
The squad checked the rate and quality control of shopkeepers, vegetable and fruit vendors.
During the checking, the ACR imposed a fine of Rs.10500 on 21 erring shopkeepers. The Checking Squad also destroyed  a good  quantity of rotten vegetables.
On the occasion, the ACR warned the erring shopkeepers to desist from indulging in any unlawful trading practice. He also directed all shopkeepers and business establishments to keep the rate list visible.
He further directed them to avoid encroachment and illegal parking on roads.
AD Food, AC Food Safety, Tehsildar Kupwara and officials from Municipality, Police, Revenue and Legal Metrology comprised the market checking squad.
It is pertinent to mention here that Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Dr.Doifode Sagar Dattatray has already directed the concerned Tehsildars and enforcement teams to intensify market checking in their respective jurisdictions and ensure that there should not be any kind of black marketing, hoarding and profiteering.
Meanwhile, market checking has been conducted in various markets of Handwara, Lolab and Karnah sub divisions.
