Srinagar, Apr 8 : Asia’s second largest Tulip garden in Srinagar has witnessed the rush of nearly 2.50 lakh tourists including domestic as well as the foreigners in the last 20 days.  Pertinently, the Tulip garden was thrown open for the general public on March 20 this year where a huge rush of tourists was recorded in the first week.  Floriculture officer Shayiq Rasool said that 2,49,433 tourists have visited the garden since its opening on March 20.  He said that the rush of both domestic and foreign tourists was witnessed this year, adding that unlike 150 foreign tourists only last year, a total of 1248 foreigners visited the garden this year so far.  The officers also informed that the number of locals who visited the garden so far has crossed the 50,000 mark, saying that a total of 51008 persons visited the Tulip garden this year so far.  He also added that 1,97,177 tourists from different parts of the country visited the garden this year in the last 20 days.  Pertinently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet a few days ago, said that Jammu and Kashmir is beautiful, and even more so during the Tulip season.  In reply to the tweet threads by Srinagar District Administration about blooming of Tulip garden located in the foothills of Zabarwan Range, adjacent to Dal Lake in Srinagar, the Prime Minister tweeted; “Jammu and Kashmir is beautiful, and even more so during the Tulip season.”
