SHOPIAN, MARCH 31: Principal Secretary, ARI & Trainings, Ashok Kumar Parmar, today visited Shopian and took stock of developmental scenario of the district.

Principal Secretary chaired an interactive meeting with DDC and PRI members, Municipal Counselors and district officers to seek feedback on various developmental issues.

During the meeting, DDC, BDC members, Councillors and other PRI members highlighted various development issues of the district pertaining to sectors including Healthcare, Drinking Water, Irrigation, Tribal Welfare, adequate staff in new Tehsils and Block offices and related issues.

The members also highlighted various other issues pertaining to development and welfare of people of their areas.

Principal Secretary said that the role of PRIs is very vital in effective implementation of schemes and programmes.

He stressed upon proper and timely monitoring of works. He assured of proper action on issues highlighted during the meeting.

Later, Ashok Kumar inspected Solid waste Management Centre, Aglar, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore through MC Shopian. He took stock of the ongoing work progress on the centre which shall be highly effective for collection, segregation and safe disposal of household waste in town.

Principal Secretary inspected Amrit Sarovar Pond at Bohrihalan, being constructed by Rural Development Department at an estimated cost of Rs 4.50 lakh. He also inspected Water Works at Habdipora which will cater to 31 villages of the area.

Deputy Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, while speaking on the occasion, appreciated the support and cooperation of elected representatives in public welfare initiatives.
