KULGAM, MARCH 23: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal-Mohi-Ud-Din-Bhat today convened an interactive meeting with media fraternity at Kulgam.

ACR Kulgam, Mir Imtiyaz-ul-Aziz; DIO Showkat Hussain Ganie, media persons associated with different media houses/ Organisations attended the meeting.

Media Fraternity apprised the DC about the issues of media persons, besides, the difficulties they face while covering the events on ground.

They also put forth demand for establishment of a press club at Kulgam and DIO was instructed to explore the possibilities to provide the media persons, a facilitation centre.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that media is the 4th and significant pillar of democracy and holds an important role in delivery of transparent and accountable governance to the people.

While appreciating the role of media fraternity in highlighting the development of the district, the DC called for focusing on creating mass awareness on vital socio-economic development of the district besides issues confronted by the society.

He stressed upon the media fraternity to reach out to the public and ensure that their issues are brought into the notice of the administration for redressal.

It was also given out that the main aim of both administration and media should be an effective public service and sustainable development of the district. Meanwhile, DC assured them that their genuine issues will be resolved at the earliest.
