Today Municipal Counsel Ganderbal held a General Body meeting which was chaired by
Chairman of the Ganderbal council Advocate Altaf Lone and the members from Kashmir
Jurists Kashmir
Hon’ble Chairman discussed the need to take stock of the situation and take up the
maintenance and renovation and other support as required for temples and shrines as
existing within the District Ganderbal .
The Chairman than paid personal visit to Mata Kheer Bhawani where clean up drive of Holy
Spring (Naag) and surrounding was taken up .It was decided that before upcoming zeeth
Ashtami celebrations this year the Holy Spring (Naag )and the flowing Holy rivers stream
water cleaning shall be taken up on priority basis and completed before this year Yatra .
The Chairman along with team of his district counsellors Sh Gulam Hassan Dar ward No 11
and Sh Nazir Ahamad Ganai ward no 9 and the Patron of Kashmir Jurists also paid visit to
the Shivalaya Shiv Mandir Ludhvana Tulamulla District Ganderbal .The team was shocked
shocked to see the depleted condition of the famous temple and its premises .He was told
by locals that this was for the first in last 34 years ( 1990 ) that any official with his team has
visited this famous ancient Shivalaya Shiv Mandir.
The Chairman issued on spot instructions to take up the renovation and repair works of this
Mandir on priority basis on his personal costs and bring this revered place of worship of
the kashmiri Pandit community back to its glorious past .
All the local population were pleased and thrilled and thanked the Chairman ,the counsellors
and the patron Kashmir Jurists for such much desired and much deserved action.
The Municipal Council Ganderbal also decided unanimously that this year the District
Ganderbal Municipal Counsel will try to work on revival of old kashmiri pandit yatra of to Holy
Gangbal Yatra and Holy Naranag Yatra .The details and action required by the counsels on
this both Yatra shall be deliberated and declared in next Council Meeting.
