Reviews facilities in the market and visited ongoing works
Bandipora, March 10: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad along with SSP Bandipora Shri Lakshay Sharma on Friday conducted an extensive tour of Bandipora town to review the developmental activities besides getting feedback about the services being provided by the government in different sectors.
They were accompanied by President Municipal Council Bandipora Basharat Hussain, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Nodal officer coordination M A Hakak, Tehsildar Bandipora, Dy CEO, Exen R&B, and other senior officials of the district.
Dr. Owais inspected the ongoing works at Children’s Park Kaloosa. He was informed about the status of works. DC Bandipora directed the officer to expedite the works so that it can be thrown open for the public as early as possible.
Later, the deputy commissioner also visited Auditorium being constructed in the premises of Nadim Memorial Govt Boys Higher Secondary Kaloosa.
Dr. Owais asked the executing agency to ensure that the auditorium is the state of the art asset in the town with all necessary facilities available. He said the town is lagging a dedicated space where it can hold conferences, seminars, debates, and other literary, educational, and social activities, and this auditorium shall fulfill the need to a larger extent.
The Deputy Commissioner, along with the team of officers, walked on foot along the Bandipora market and interacted with the shopkeepers and pedestrians. They apprised the officers about various issues being faced by them, including the availability of pure drinking water and other basic amenities.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner halted at Gulshan Chowk where traders had assembled to meet the Deputy Commissioner.He directs the officials through Gulshan Park for public.
Traders informed the officers about various issues and grievances, including non availability of water ATMs in the town, washrooms, drains, lack of staff in district hospitals, and other issues regarding the town.
Deputy Commissioner, while talking to the traders, thanked them for always lending their support to the administration at the time if need.
He assured them that all their grievances would be looked into in a phased.
DC Bandipora said the district administration this year will focus on the augmentation of drainage systems and footpaths. He said that during the last two years, the administration macdamized almost all the town roads and streets besides laying concrete and tiles along lanes and bylanes.
Dr. Owais said that this year, they will upgrade the drainage system and footpaths for the convenience of the public in general and traders in particular.
He also assured that this year, a slaughterhouse and parking complex will also be completed.
Traders thanked the deputy commissioner for visiting the town to assess the ground realities instead of receiving secondary feedback. They assured full cooperation to the administration to ensure better governance and delivery of social justice.
