DC Kulgam chairs Distt level Zoonosis Committee meet

KULGAM, MARCH 09: A meeting of District Level Zoonosis Committee was today held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat at mini-secretariat, here.

During the meeting, the DC instructed the concerned to formulate a comprehensive plan besides to work on data collection on zoonosis in the district.

He also instructed to formulate Block level Zoonosis Committees and launch an awareness campaign to inform people about the preventive measures from the diseases.

It was informed that zoonosis is a disease that jumps from a non-human animal to humans.

It was also shared that Zoonotic pathogens may be bacterial, viral or parasitic, or may involve unconventional agents and can spread to humans through direct contact or through food, water or the environment.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Showkat Ahmad Rather, ADC ViqarAhmed Giri, JD-Planning, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Medical Officer, BMOs and other concerned officers.
