On the eve of International Women Day, GDC Tangdhar organised a series of activities to celebrate the event with great enthusiasm and fervour. The event was organised in continuity of Two Days Workshop on Women Empowerment conducted in collaboration with District Hub for Empowerment of Women Kupwara. Special programmes were organised to mark the occasion including lectures on Legal Perspectives on Sexual Harassment delivered by a learned advocate Mr. Farooq Ahmad Qureshi and another lecture on Rights of Women and Women Education in Islam delivered by a renowned religious scholar Mufti Imtiyaz Ahmad Qasmi. Female students also participated in a debate on Women Empowerment coordinated by Professor Tariq Ahmad Shah. Later on a grand rally on “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” took place which was flagged off from college by Principal Prof Haroon Rashid. The rally passed through different villages and market across highway and culminated at Chinar Park Tangdhar. Many female NSS and Mission Shakti volunteers participated in the event. Different activities related to International Women’s Day were coordinated by NSS Programme Officer Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad whereas all faculty members and non-teaching participated in the event.
