DC Kulgam flags-off group of Farmers on Exposure Tour

KULGAM, MARCH, 07: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal-Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today flagged-off a group of 14 farmers on exposure cum training programme to Jammu for a period of 5 days.

Present on the occasion were ADC, Viqar Ahmed Giri; Chief Agriculture Officer, District Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Extension Officers and other concerned officers and officials.

It was informed that the tour has been organized under the Sub Mission on Agriculture Extension of the centrally sponsored scheme of Agriculture Technology and Management Agency (SAME- ATMA) by Dy. Director Agriculture Training, FTEC Ganderbal.

While interacting with the farmers, DC said that the objective of the exposure cum training visit is to make the farmers aware about the latest technical know-how and modern agriculture/ progressive practices being adopted in the sector.

He asked the farmers to avail the opportunity to learn the latest technologies and practices and adopt the same in their own farms.

Chief Agriculture Officer, Sartaj Ahmad Shah informed that during the tour, the farmers will get an opportunity to interact with scientists at SKUAST –Jammu and will be given the practical demonstration of the latest technology in the field at main campus Chatha, Centre Of Excellence of Fruits Udhaywala and Chinore Farm of department of Agriculture Jammu.

He called upon them to share and disseminate the knowledge gained during the tour among the farmers back home, so that they can also adopt the latest agriculture techniques to improve their farm yields and income.
