Karnah Kupwara : The group of twenty (G-20) is an intergovernmental forum comprising 19 countries and European Union. It was formed in 1999 after the Asian Financial Crisis. The aim of G-20 is to secure global financial stability by involving middle income countries. It also addresses the issues of climate crisis, financial crisis and sustainable development. This year, India holds the Presidency of the G-20 from 01 Dec 2022 to 31 Nov 2023. The theme of India’s G-20 Presidency is *_“VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM”_* which means *”One Earth. One Family. One Future.”*
To educate and make the teachers and students aware about the India’s G-20 Presidency and its significance, a seminar was conducted at Army Goodwill School, Tithwal on 04 Mar 2023. Mr Rafaqit Hussain Shah, the social studies teacher informed the gathering about the G-20 role in shaping and strengthening global architecture and governance on all major international economic issues. The lecture also threw light on the 18th G-20 summit which will be conducted with effect from 9th-10th September this year in New Delhi.
After the seminar, a declamation competition for 8th standard and painting competetion for 5th to 7th standard students were conducted. The students participated in both events with great zeal and enthusiasm. A total of 108 students alongwith teaching staff and 38 locals attended the seminar. After the culmination of the event, prizes were given to the ones who did well. A light refreshment was also catered for the complete gathering. G-20 Presidency is a matter of great pride for the entire country and the same was visible in the efforts put in by all the students.
