Women College Gandhi Nagar organises activities under G 20 awareness

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 27: The G 20 club of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, in collaboration with Department of Physics, Department of Environmental Sciences and Department of Zoology, on Monday organised energy conservation awareness drive on the college campus which included a slogan writing competition, poster making competition and an awareness rally. The program was held under the patronage of the College Principal, Prof. Minu Mahajan.

A group of 20 students participated in slogan writing competition on the theme of energy conservation. Dr. B. D. Sehgal, HoD, Physics formally welcomed the participants and Jury members for the event. Slogans were judged by Prof. Mala Bhasin, HOD, Department of Botany and Prof. Shally Chada, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry.

The First three positions were bagged by Nancy Devi, Enu Sharma and Parul Sharma of Semester-I respectively.

Another event of Poster making competition on the theme clean water and sanitation was organised by Department of Zoology in which 20 students participated. The judges for the event were Prof. Kamlesh Slathia, Dean Sciences, Prof. Mala Bhasin, HoD, Department of Botany and Prof. Anju Koul, Department of Botany. First three positions were bagged by Sakshi Devi, Hitaishi and Anvi of Semester-III respectively. Prof. Vasudha Chaudhari, HoD Zoology congratulated the students and applauded their efforts.

The twin activities were followed by an awareness rally within the College campus in which students and faculty members participated enthusiastically amid chanting of the slogans about the conservation of the dwindling energy resources. The events were successfully conducted under the guidance of Prof. S. S. Parihar, convener, G 20 club. The members of G 20 club, faculty members of the Department of Physics, Department of Zoology and Department of Environmental Sciences ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
