KATHUA, FEBRUARY 18: DIET Basohli, in collaboration with J&K Board of School Education, today organised District Level Role Play & Folk Song/Dance Competition here in Government Boys Higher Secondary School.   Cultural teams from different Zones of District Kathua took part in the competition held under varied categories. The purpose of organising this competition was to educate the student community about different issues viz. Protection of the Environment, Prevention of substance abuse, Role of joint family in child development, Healthy relationships during adolescence, plastic pollution, gender equality, good health and mental well-being, reduced inequality etc & how to redress these issues. Moreover, the main aim of this programme is to educate students of 17 sustainable development goals issued by the United Nations.  The Students from GHSS Budhi (Barnoti) secured first position in Folk dance, while students of HS Parangoli (Sallan) secured first position in the Role Play category. The first position in Folk dance was secured by the students of GHS Marheen (Hiranagar) and the students of GHS Sherpur secured second position in the role-play category. The third position was clinched by the students of GMS Basohli in Folk dance and the students of GHS Sandhar in the role play.  A panel of judges was constituted to judge the contestants.  The welcome note was presented by the Principal of the Host School. He advised the students to take part in co curricular activities as art remains a beautiful form of expression since ages.  Then HOD DIET Basohli, Champa Devi inaugurated the programme and in her motivational address appreciated the efforts of the students, mentors and HOIs for District level participation. The students who secured the top three positions in different categories were awarded with certificates and cash prizes. The top teams (winner team in both events) will represent the District in UT-level competition.  The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Champa Devi, co-ordinator of this program.  NO: PR/DDI/J-6135//
