The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Dr.Doifode Sagar Dattatray on Tuesday stressed on enhancing credit flow under different government sponsored schemes and programmes to generate employment avenues for the unemployed youth in the district. The Deputy commissioner siad this after inaugurating branch office of JK Grameen Bank to its new premises at Kanthipora Lolab on Tuesday along with SSP Kupwara Yougal Kumar Manhas. Mir Parvaiz Ahmad General Manager Kashmir, Zahid Imran Nengroo ,Regional Manager Kupwara, Rizwan Majeed District Manager Advances and other concerned officers were present at the inaugural function. The DC Kupwara asked bank authorities to contribute to the economic upliftment of the rural youth and farmers by providing banking solutions and accessibility to goverment sponsored schemes like PMEGP (Prime Minister’s employment Genration programe JKREGP (Jammu and Kashmir Rural employment generation programe), and other self employment scheme. DC said that Grameen bank branch at its new premises will bring the best banking services to the doorsteps of the people in the area would cater to all basic banking needs. A large gathering of locals also attended the function. J&K Grameen Bank (JKGB), established by order of Government of India on 30th June 2009 under sub-section (1) of Section 23-A of the RRB Act, 1976 (21 of 1976) and functioning in 11 Districts in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu & Kashmir and 2 Districts in UT of Ladakh. The network of the Bank consists of Six Regional Offices and 215 branches i.e. 213 branches in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir and 2 branches in the UT of Ladakh, which are engaged in providing all kind of financial services in both the Union Territories. The Bank has 23 Branches in Kupwara. Bank (A Govt. Of india undertaking ), regional based rural lending institutions under the Regional Rural Banks Act, 1976. Mission of Bank is to fulfil the credit needs of the relatively unserved sections in the rural areas, small and marginal farmers, agricultural labourers and socio-economic weaker sections. Shareholding pattern of RRBs among the three sponsoring entities is 50: 35: 15 among the central government, sponsoring bank (J&K Bank)and JK UT government, respectively. On the directions of Deputy Commisioner Kupwara, Bank authorities passed directions for installation of Micro ATM at Branch Kanthipora and same will be made functional by tomorrow. bhat muzaffar
