Three Notorious drug peddlers arrested ,10 Kg Charas Recovered

Sopore : Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a three drug peddlers in Sopore and recovered huge contraband substance from his possession.

A Police party led by SHO Police Station Tarzoo Inspector Imtiyaz ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Sopore intercepted a vehicle at Lalad National Highway near Sanctorium Public School, bearing registration number JK03D 2694 where in two persons were boarding towards main town Sopore.

During the search about 10 kilograms of contraband charas like substance inside a bag were recovered from the vehicle. During initial investigation the accused disclosed their identity as: 1. Shabir Ahmad Wagay S/O Ali Mohammad Wagay and 2. Gulzar Ahmad Mir S/O Abdul Gani Mir both the residents of Dupatyar Bijbhera Anantnag. Accused were arrested and contraband seized.

In this regard a case FIR No. 07/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Tarzoo, during the primarily investigation it was revealed that the arrested persons were brought to sell the Contraband in town Sopore further investigation has been set into motion.

Similarly, one person namely Irfan Syed Antoo S/O Mohammad Syed Antoo R/O Amberpora Tarzoo was apprehended alongwith bag at Sangrama chowk, during search, 13 bottles of Codeine were recovered from his bag.

To this effect case FIR No. 08/2023, under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo and investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said.
