Karnah Kupwara:The previous day on 27th Jan, Sadhana pass & the chowkibal-Tangdar-chamkote (CTC) road had to be cleared of 4 feet snow accumulation which gies upto 8 feet at certain stretches, to get the medically critical patients including a pregnant woman stranded in Tangdar, to Srinagar. Despite Avalanche warning 3, amidst high risk of snow slides 53 km long stretch of CTC road was cleared by 109 RCC, when the efforts were halted by multiple avalanches from SM hill to sadhana pass to khooni nala covering four kilometres stretch. Three attempts were made to clear the slide zone of four kilometre but was unsuccessful because of continuous slides on the stretch. After waiting for some time, At 2000 hrs, when the sun set down and temperature dipped, final attempt to clear the slide zone was made and with the proper management from both ends of slides & coordinated efforts of the teama the slide zone was successfully cleared. Entire CTC road of 57 km including NC pass was cleared in Night at 2130 hrs. Dett teepee,Sadhana, Bagbella is working with the vision of OC Major VV sharma, to serve people of karnah by keeping Sadhana Pass open for maximum time possible during this snowfall season. Five teams led by Captain Abhishek Kumar deployed in karnah valley are working towards achieving this vision.
