KARNAH // The government started a chopper service for the border tehsil Karnah on Monday, during which 55 passengers, including students and patients, arrived from Karnah to Kupwara and from Kupwara to Karnah. Although Beacon has put its machinery to work to restore the highway, however, the process of avalanches begins in five feet of snow. Meanwhile, the government started chopper service today for the snow-covered border area of Karnah. 55 passengers traveled from Karnah to Kupwara and from Kupwara to Karnah. According to the administration, among these helpless passengers, there were 7 critical patients and 6 nurses, besides the students studying in various colleges and universities of the valley, persons who were going on Umrah were also airlifted. In these flights, the answer books of the 10th and 12th classes also be delivered to the Kupwara board office. The electricity supply in the area was restored last night. Temporary employees of the department were on task and they tried their best to restore the electricity on time. This 33kv electricity line is often damaged due to heavy snowfall as it passes through Sadhana Top and reaches karnah . All possible efforts are being made to restore the Karnah Kupwara highway. According to the Beacon department, there was about five feet of snow on the highway and due to landslide there are obstacles in the restoration of the highway, but he said that the restoration work of the highway is going on at full speed and it is likely that the highway will be restored by Tuesday evening. President Haji Taslim Ahmed Mir has thanked the authorities for restoring electricity and starting chopper service for Karnah. S DM Karnah Dr. Gulzar Ahmed Rather said that the snow has been removed from all the internal roads of the area while the power supply was also restored on Sunday evening. He has advised people to avoid traveling to higher areas during bad weather conditions as mudslides and rockfalls start there.
