The Rally marked the start of week-long celebrations under Swachhta Pakhwada, which is Ministry of Road Transport and Highways   concept to make Road Safety Activities concern of everyone or everyone’s business.

A large number of transporters, drivers, and officials took part in the rally, which started from Mini Secretariat. The participating drivers were asked to be messengers for the Safe Roads initiative by following all road safety norms.

DC emphasized on the need to disseminate information about the gravity of road accidents.

In view of the deaths occurring due to rash, over speeding, negligent and unsafe driving, he asked all stakeholders to spearhead a massive orientation and awareness on the issue.

He also enjoined upon the concerned departments to carry out activities throughout the year so that the message becomes fully effective for the purpose of reducing road accidents by 50% in next 10 years.

The weeklong celebrations shall witness a number of activities by all concerned departments in furtherance of Safe Roads, said ARTO Muazzam Ali while speaking on the occasion. He appealed to people against the practice of dumping construction materials on roads, which at times leads to fatal accidents.

Officers of Information, Traffic, Police and officials and other concerned were present on the occasion.
