Condolence meeting held in memory of late Prof. Rehman Rahi by Gulshan Cultural Forum Kashmir

Prominant writer, poet, educationist, intellectual, translator and very serious and thoughtful thinker of Kashmiri language Professor Rahman Rahi passed away on January 9, 2023. As soon as the news of his death was heard, a wave of sadness spread in public, political, social, especially, literary circles. Regular condolence messages are being received on print, electronic and social media.

Taking this trend forward, Gulshan Cultural Forum Kashmir organized an informal meeting here today at Samanbal Badran Magam. Which was presided over by Syed Bashir Kausar, President of the Forum. While the general secretary of the forum Gulshan Badrani and Professor Gulshan Majeed spoke in detail about the late Rahi’s literary life and achievements.

Many other eminent writers, researchers, intellectuals and literary relatives of late Rahi who have heart and soul connection with the forum joined this condolence meeting in online mode. Who paid tribute to late Rahi remembering him in beautiful words. Among them are Prof. Basher Basheer, Prof. Farooq Fayaz, Dr. Rafiq Masoodi, Shamshad Karalwari, Shahnaz Rasheed, Ghulam Hasan Baba, Ashok Kak and Dr. Javed Anwar.

While the attendees included Lateef Niyazy, Maqbool Shaida, Peerzada Muhammad Ashraf, Abdul Ahad Shahbaz, Khurshid Khamosh, Dr. Muhammad Idrees, Ghulam-ud-din Beig, Gulshan Badrani, Syed Bashir Kousar and Professor Gulshan Majeed.

In the meeting, prayers for forgiveness of the deceased and heartfelt sympathy with the bereaved have been expressed. During the meeting, it was decided that a special event will be organized by Gulshan Cultural Forum in memory of Late Rehman Rahi in the near future. Also, the messages and feedback received during today’s condolence meeting will also be published separately.

May Almighty Allah grant Jannat-ul-Firdous to late Rehman Rahi and his family, especially Naushine Ji, to bear this loss and have patience.
