An interaction was organised today at Govt Higher Senior Secondary School, Palhallan, wherein, Maj Gen Sanjiv Singh Slaria, General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force (Kilo), met people and members of civil administration, school teachers and children of Palhallan village. The visit of GOC to the largest village of North Kashmir after many years is a true indicator of normalcy setting in, considering the history of Palhallan and the surrounding villages.
During the interaction, he informed the people about the present situation, security measures put in place for the safety and security of people, and initiatives being taken by the government and the Army towards achieving normalcy and to bring development in the region.
The General Officer also replied to queries raised by people and advised people to maintain peace and not believe in rumours and propaganda being spread by “enemies of the nation”.
“The students of Palhallan are doing exceptionally well in academics, sports and other activities and the youth should take inspiration from eminent people of Palhallan who are doing exceptionally well in their professions like doctors, engineers, lawyers, teachers and entrepreneurs who are contributing towards the growth of the region” he said while addressing the audience.
The people emphasised the need to continue with such interaction, especially for the youth at various levels to solve their problems and also to sensitise them about the nefarious designs of adversaries to disturb the peace of the valley.
A movie for elders of the area was also screened at Zorawar hall at Haiderbegh,Pattan which drew huge footfalls. More than 200 people watched the movie and were thrilled to relive the experience of silver screen. GOC interacted with the elders during the interval. The elders shared their happiness and recounted their memories of watching movies at Zorawar hall in their youth. The Hall has been recently renovated and has already become popular amongst locals.
