Indian Army organised a Literature Festival at Government Degree College, Shopian on 28th and 29th Nov 2022.

 

 

 

The aim of the festival amidst the snowcapped peaks surrounding Shopian, was to celebrate a wide spectrum of literary voices, nurture literary culture and community, cultivate literacy and promote literary work, with special attention to engaging pressing social issues.

 

 

 

The Festival featured dozens of speakers, interviews with youth and guidance by eminent personalities across literary genres and backgrounds. The festival also included a captivating outdoor fair, with a variety of exhibits and a range of activities for children and adults.

 

 

 

The major focus and a recurring motive of this session was to assess positive impact of education in Shopian district. Other themes such as Education and Social Transformation, Education and Entrepreneurship, Role of Sports in Education, Education and Innovative Teaching Models, Education and Peace Building, and the impact of Drugs on Kashmir were also espoused during the course of the event.

 

 

 

The festival featured an eclectic mix of prominent speakers from different fields of expertise, such as Aijaz Wani (PHD), Fellow at ORF, Faisal Ali Dar, Padmashree awardee and Life Coach, Sufi Irfan Hamid, M.SC, B.ED, of the Education Department, who is also District level Master Trainer, Waseem Hanief, a Veteran Journalist and Motivational Speaker, Dr Muzzafar, the Head of drug Rehabilitation Centre; and Shakir Parray, the Asst. to Chairman DDC and a Social Worker. Various students of Kashmir University also delivered lectures on topics related to education, sports and drug abuse.
