Dr Darakhshan Chairperson of Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today inspected the ongoing construction works at the shrine of Baya Payamuddin Rishi (RA) at Aishmuqam where Waqf Board has started work on modern complexes at the shrine on the public demand. Taking note of some social media reports, Dr Andrabi instantly rushed to the shrine cancelling all her fixed engagements to undertake physical inspection at the shrine. She took stock of the construction work being done there; spoke to the engineering experts, Waqf Board Engineers & the contractors. She also discussed the issue with the public delegations in detail. Dr Andrabi issued instructions for improving the quality of construction and expediting the work so that it was completed in time. Dr Darakhshan Andrabi paid obeisance at the shrine and later spoke to the media and assured the public that in the new Waqf Board transparency and accountability will be ensured. Dr Andrabi said that with the help of public support only, the Waqf Board can achieve the goals of purifying the sufi shrines of J&K from the filth of political intervention. “Many opportunists are hurt and disturbed by our reformatory steps and decisions, but the majority of the devotionally recharged people of the land have welcomed our decisions. There is a big change in the shrine management everywhere but yet many more reforms are to follow,” said Dr Darakhshan Andrabi. Briefing about the digitization process in Waqf, Dr Andrabi said that soon all major shrines in J&K will be under CCTV surveillance & within a few months we will introduce e-payment systems at the shrines. “The Waqf educational institutions will also undergo major transformations. Rent management system is being upgraded and we are hopeful to enhance our income from our assets manifold soon, “said Waqf Board Chairperson. She in strong voice rejected the claims of all those who are now and then presenting themselves before media as the qualified and eligible receivers of donations for their individual luxuries & said that nobody will be allowed to mint money at shrines and all those individuals who want to serve at the shrine may donate their services for which they are welcome. “Nobody will be allowed to turn sufi-shrines into individual business centers and the Waqf Board will take on all those strictly who, for their cheap media coverage, go to the shrines and speak to the media against the Waqf directives. We have taken these decisions as per the provisions of the Central Waqf Act & nobody will be allowed to incite people. Those who indulge in such provocative statements will be dealt with as per the law,” said Dr Darakhshan Andrabi. She later visited the sufi-shrine at Sarbal in Pahalgam & took stock of the facilities there.
