District Level Environment Committee (DLEC) meeting was held today under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam to review the action taken by the stakeholder departments on directions and decisions approved in previous meetings.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal Sharma, ACR, Giasul-Haq, ACD, Ashok Singh, CMO, Dr Kamal Zadoo, Divisional Officer, Pollution Control Board, Ramban, Sanjay Rathod, CEO, Devanand, DFO Batote, Kuldeep Singh, DFO, Ramban, Dr Rajan Singh, DMO Kulbant Singh,CEO MC Ramban, Sudershan Kumar, and various concerned officers attended the meeting.
The DC directed the DMO to prepare a comprehensive developmental plan under Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) to take approval from the committee to provide benefits to people.
The DC directed the PWD department to submit the progress report on the construction of two separate Waste Material Recovery Facilities (WMRF) for MC Ramban and Batote, He also directed the Tehsildar and EO, MC Banihal to expedite the process for the identification of land in Banihal for Solid Waste Management.
While enquiring about the disposal of Biomedical waste generated from different health institutions in the district, the DC directed CMO to ensure the implementation of directions and guidelines in letter and spirit.
Reviewing the status of action taken by the different departments about activities proposed by their respective departments under the District Environment Plan, the DC passed directions to concerned officers to take strict action against the violators.
The DC directed CEO, PDA, CEO, MC Ramban, DPO and EOs of MCs to start anti-polythene, anti-single use plastic drives, besides starting a renovation and new construction works to protect as well as rejuvenating water bodies across the district.
During the meeting, the DC stressed upon the officers for improvement in all parameters of the environmental conservation in the district including widespread plantation initiatives, measures to curb the use of plastic, and polythene, improving disposal of solid waste and hospital waste to the management of the natural environment in the district.
