Ganderbal 17th Oct: In a rare achievement, Shabir Ahmad Parah, Sr. Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Technology, University of Kashmir, has been figured in Stanford University’s list of top 2 percent scientists in the world, for the third consecutive year, bringing laurels to the University.
The database, a work of John Ioannidis, University of Stanford, California, USA has been published in October 2022 by Elsevier BV. It evaluated the global impact of the works of top scientists in the World based on composite C-Score.
Hailing from Zazna area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, Dr. Shabir has been listed in the Field of Networking and Telecommunications and, the sub-field of Artificial Intelligence & Image Processing, recognizing his outstanding research work based on Multimedia security and Biomedical Image processing.
Dr. Shabir has authored more than 160 research papers in Journals and Conferences of International repute.
He has published his work in high-impact Journals and has a Web of Science cumulative impact factor of 230. His work has been published in IEEE Transactions, IEEE Journals, and Journals from other reputed publishers like Elsevier/Springer/Wiley, etc. Additionally, he has edited three books on Multimedia Security (Springer-Nature), Artificial Intelligence for Innovative Healthcare Informatics (Springer-Nature), and Intelligent Multimedia Signal Processing for Smart Ecosystems (Springer), Besides he has contributed 25 chapters in various books published by reputed publishers like Elsevier and Springer.
During his research, Dr. Parah has developed strong research collaborations with various renowned researchers in the field. Some of the collaborative institutes include Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), South Korea, Sejong University, South Korea, University of Bradford, UK, University of Technology Sydney, Australia, Coventry University, UK, Institute of Tele-informatics Engineering Federal Fortaleza, Brazil, University of New South Wales, Australia, and American University Dubai.
He has bagged four IEEE Conference awards which include three Best Technical Paper Awards; one at ICAECC-Bangalore (2014), two at INDICON-New Delhi (2015), and one best Algorithmica Award at ICIIP-Shimla (2017). He has mobilized a research grant to the tune of about 13 million INR from the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, New Delhi, Jammu, and Kashmir Science Technology and Innovation Council and University Grants Commission.
Talking to News agency Dr. Shabir said “First and foremost I am thankful to Almighty for bestowing all the success. I consider myself extremely lucky to have pursued my Doctorate under the watchful eyes of a great visionary and legend, Late Prof. G. Mohiuddin Bhat”.
Research is a team work and it is impossible to prosper in isolation, he said, adding that i dedicate this success to my revered Mentor and Guide Late Prof. G. Mohiuddin Bhat, my family, my research scholars/co-authors/ colleagues, and collaborators for helping this to happen third consecutive year.
