Directs Departments to keep men & machinery ready, ensure hassle free supply of essential services

KATHUA, OCTOBER 17: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kathua, Rahul Pandey today chaired a meeting of officers to take stock of the arrangements to be put in place for the ensuing winter season.

During the meeting, the DC emphasized on readying men and machinery to meet the challenges like disruption of supply of water, electricity and road closure due to snowfall during the winter months.

The DC instructed the officers to formulate Action Plans concerning their Departments in advance to mitigate any crisis or emergency like situation during the winters.

“Take effective measures to ensure hassle-free supply of essential commodities to the general public and minimize reaction time in case of any emergency like situations” he asked the departments.

The CMO was directed to ensure availability of  sufficient stock of medicine, emergency medicine, ambulance services and medical staff round the clock in medical blocks located in higher reaches of the district.

The PWD (R&B) and GREF were directed to ensure availability of men and machinery on all the identified roads so as to keep them functional and through during winters. The representative of GREF apprised the DC about the requirement of Snow Cutters on which the DC directed for putting up a separate proposal so that matter could be taken up with the government.

XEN JPDCL was directed to ensure availability of buffer stock for speedy replacement of damaged transformers in case of any fault during winters.

He also directed to store conductors and electric poles to meet any emergency.

Similarly, Ex. Engineer PHE was instructed to dump stock of pipes in advance in different areas of the District to ensure continuous water supply.

The DC directed AD, FCS&CA to ensure winter stocking is done by November month to avoid crisis or supply shortages of ration and other essential commodities due to road closure.

The DC exhorted all concerned to plan effectively and coordinate with others to mitigate any challenge arising out of inclement weather.

The meeting among others was attended by the ADC, ACR, CPO, CMO, Executive Engineers of PDD, R&B, PHE, RTO and other officers and officials concerned.
