JKPCC conducts Save Rivers campaign in 5 districts of Jammu region

JAMMU, OCTOBER 4: J&K Pollution Control Committee on Tuesday organised “Save Rivers” Campaign in five major districts of Jammu region viz Jammu, Kathua, Reasi, Udhampur and Samba to create awareness among devotees regarding water pollution and sensitized them to immerse only Sakh in the holy rivers and not to immerse any polythene/plastic/chunri/mixed items in the rivers.

The objective of this campaign was to motivate devotees/ citizens to realize the value of Rivers which are the lifelines of Cities / towns and the need to preserve water for future generations. The awareness campaign was organized under the guidance and supervision of Chairperson, JKPCC Dr. Neelu Gera, Member Secretary JK PCC K. Ramesh Kumar and Regional Director JK PCC Jammu Sh. Sat Paul.

All the items collected from devotees were segregated on the spot with the help of respective Municipal Corporation/Committees and local Bodies in the districts for further channelization to respective recyclers while flowers were channelized in collaboration with various degree colleges, DISHA organization, NGO live for others, Climate Front Jammu and other local NGOs viz GGM Science College, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, GDC Samba, GOCE Jammu, GDC Kathua.

Chairperson JKPCC made an appeal to all public to actively participate and be part of this “Save Rivers” campaign to ensure preservation of precious water resources of J&K.
