August 31: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A Police party led by incharge Police Post Warpora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Sopore Shri Furqan Qadir-JKPS and SHO PS Sopore at a checkpoint established at Jahangir Colony Warpora Sopore intercepted a person in a suspicious manner. During search, 12grms of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Showkat Ahmad Para son of Muhammad Maqbool Para resident of Adipora Sopore. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 191/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt as per law.
