Srinagar, 29 August 2022.   National Sports Day was celebrated at Govt Upper Primary School, Kamkari near the Line of Control in Machhal Sector, Kupwara. A total of three teachers and 55 children participated in the event.

The school children of this remote border area were educated about the importance of sports in maintaining physical and mental health in their lives. Sports, such as cricket, football, kabaddi and kho kho were organized for the children.

The children showed great competitive spirit and all the participants were awarded during the prize distribution ceremony.

National Sports Day is celebrated on August 29 in India every year as a tribute to our hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand who was born on this date in 1905.
