Japanese government launched a nationwide competition which will run till 9 September, to encourage young people to drink more alcohol. The Sake Viva! campaign asks 20 to 39-year-olds to try “new products and designs” to promote home drinking. Notably, alcohol consumption in Japan had fallen from an average of 100 litres a person in 1995 to 75 litres in 2020.
