SRINAGAR, AUGUST 16: The Forest Department celebrated Independence Day, 2022 with much fervour and happiness.

On the occasion, Flag hoisting ceremonies were organised at Forest Headquarter, Sheikh Bagh, Srinagar and similar programmes were held at Circle level, Divisional level and at Range Headquarters.

The forest frontline and ministerial staff of South, North and Srinagar Circle, Kashmir participated in these events with much enthusiasm and zeal.

Conservator of Forests South Forest Circle, Irfan Ali Shah along with forest officials hoisted the National flag at Circle office, Bijbehara and also visited many Amrit Sarovar sites in different districts of South Kashmir.

Several Forest officials of South Kashmir were   felicitated by the District Administration whose efforts for Forest Protection, greening initiatives, and people’s welfare were duly recognised.

To mark the event, ceremonial Plantation events were organized in all Territorial Forest Divisions of South Forest Circle at various Amrit Sarovar sites as part of Deliverables 2022-23 assigned by the Government to the Forest Department. Various dignitaries including PRIs, Officers from respective District Administration at different levels participated in these events.

It was informed that till now 27 Amrit Sarovars (water bodies inside forests) have been rejuvenated and many more will be rejuvenated in the coming months which will help conserve biodiversity, restore back natural heritage and lead to inclusive development as well.
