Amid Forecast For Widespread Rains From Tomorrow, Minimum Temp Increases In J&K

Srinagar, Aug 14 : Amid forecast for widespread rains from August 15, the minimum temperature recorded a rise in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.

According to forecast issued by the meteorological department for seven days, isolated light rain has been forecast for next 24 hours and widespread rain (possibility of 76-100%) from August 15 to 17 and August 20. Fairly widespread rain (51-75% possibility) has been forecast on August 18 and 19.

Regarding minimum temperature, a meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 19.8°C against 18.9°C on the previous night. The temperature was 1.6°C above normal during this time of the year for the summer capital, he said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 16.8°C against 16.6°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.3°C above normal there, he told GNS.

In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 13.8°C against 12.2°C on the previous night and it was 0.8°C above normal for the south Kashmir resort.

Kokernag recorded a low of 17.0°C same as on the previous night and it was 1.2°C above normal for the place, he said.

World famous Gulmarg resort recorded a low of 12.0°C against 17.0°C on the previous night. However it was 0.1°C below normal for the north Kashmir place.

Kupwara town saw a low of 18.0°C against 15.8°C on previous night and it was 0.7°C above normal for the place during this time of the season, the official told Global News Service.

Jammu recorded a low of 26.5 against 26.7°C on the previous night. It was 1.4°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said.

Banihal recorded a low of 19.4°C, Batote 19.6°C, Katra 24.9°C, Bhadarwah 18.2°C and Kathua 26.6°C. (GNS)
