Horticulture department hosts 1 month training for SHGs

POONCH, AUGUST 11: Department of Horticulture Poonch today organized one month training for Self Help Groups of District Urban Development Agency(NULM Poonch) on Post Harvest Management technologies, here in the office MCC.

 The training course is being conducted on the instruction of Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Sevak and under the guidance of Chief Horticulture Officer, Sanjeev Kumar to train SGHS in different Post Harvest Management technologies.

 Manager cum Chemist, Vinay Vilas discussed different schemes, subsidies provided under the departmental components to enable stakeholders to set up processing units with very little capital. The SGHs were informed about the department’s schemes for creating jobs for the young generation. They were imparted hands-on training in making jam, pickles, squash, and other added goods by Anjana Sharma.

 Over 60 women of Self Help Groups of District Urban development agency (NULM Poonch) learned about the different post harvest management techniques.

The Chief Horticulture Officer Poonch emphasized on processing, packaging, Grading, branding of the processed products like plum jam, pickles, Apricot squash and Jam, Ginger Tonic, sauces etc as these fruits are locally available.

The other Officials present also delivered a lecture on Post Harvest Management. Anjana Sharma and Nargis Bano gave demonstrations on the processing and preparation of Mango pickle and Plum Jam.
