SRINAGAR JULY 16:- The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Saturday undertook an extensive tour of different City areas to inspect progress of works being carried out on several major developmental projects including flyovers on NH-44 (Jammu-Srinagar highway) at Sanat Nagar, Nowgam and Bemina Junctions. He also visited SKIMS Medical College, Bemina to oversee infrastructure upgradation works and to explore possibilities of allotment of Additional land for the College.

Besides, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Faz ul Haseb, the DC was accompanied by Chief Planning Officer Srinagar, SDM West, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineers of R&B CD-Ist & PCD-Ist, Project Director, NHAI, Pantha Chowk and other concerned.

The Deputy Commissioner inspected the pace and progress of ongoing work on construction of flyover at busy junction of Bemina bypass being executed at a cost of Rs 31 crore by PWD.

On the occasion, the DC directed the concerned executing agency to accelerate the pace of work by employing additional men and machinery to complete the prestigious project in set timelines.

The DC also passed on spot directions to resolve the issues hindering the project.

Similarly, the DC also took stock of the work on 0.85 km span flyover at Nowgam junction being carried out at a cost of Rs 34 crore for which completion timeline of one year has been set.

Later, the DC visited Lasjan bypass to inspect the works being carried out for construction of Grade Separator.

On the occasion, the DC was apprised by the Project Director, NHAI that over 60 percent of the work has been completed and work on the remaining part of the project is going on with full swing.

The DC hoped that as soon as these prestigious projects on NH-44 (Jammu-Srinagar highway) are completed Shall improve transport facilities in Srinagar and also will prove helpful to overcome traffic congestion along the highway and on other important road corridors.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner along with the Officers visited SKIMS Medical College, Bemina to oversee the measures being taken for infrastructure development at the College.

On the occasion, the Principal of the College, Dr Irfan Rabani projected the demand for allotment of additional land to meet the requirements for the extension of College infrastructure.

The DC directed the SDM concerned to undertake an exercise for requisitioning the quantum of land so that matter is taken up with the Administrative Department for early allotment of the land.
