‘Song’s message is to keep surroundings clean and plastic free during pilgrimage’

SRINAGAR, JULY 07: Commissioner Secretary Rural Development Department (RDD) & Panchyati Raj, Mandeep Kaur here today launched a devotional song sung by renowned Bollywood singer, Kailash Kher.

The song titled: ‘Jai Jai Baba Barfani’ dedicated to Baba Amarnath sung by Kher in collaboration with Directorate of Rural Sanitation J&K in order to sensitize people about cleanliness of surroundings during Amarnath Yatra 2022.

Speaking at the launch, Kaur observed that the song would prove a milestone to make people aware about the protection of environment  and cleanliness of surroundings while hoping that coming Amarnath Yatra would be conducted keeping in mind the spirit of cleanliness of the area.

She added that it was for the first time that the RDD is taking part in Yatra arrangements and is making this year’s Yatra plastic and garbage free sanitation activities.

She said the department is committed to achieve Zero Waste to Landill management, both dry and wet, which encapsulates an environmentally friendly attitude

Speaking during the launch via virtual mode, Kailash Kher thanked J&K administration for their support during the making of video and said such devotional songs unite people to live their lives peacefully,  besides it helps in protecting environment while going for pilgrimage.

While speaking on the occasion, Director Rural Sanitation J&K, Charandeep Singh said that advanced machines have been installed at different locations along the routes of Amarnath Cave and said the government has pledged to make this yatra plastic and garbage free.

Director RDD Kashmir and CEO, Swaaha were present on the occasion.
