Srinagar, 22 Jun 2022. Based on specific input received from JKP regarding presence of terrorists in the general area of Tujan, Pulwama, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by the Indian Army and JKP in the area at about 7:55 pm on 20 June 22.Own Forces established an initial cordon around suspected cluster of houses in the village and simultaneously evacuated civilians from the area. At around 1:45 am on 21 Jun 22, during ensuing search operation, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on Security Forces from one of the houses, triggering an encounter. Own Forces swiftly returned the fire with precision and eventually neutralised two terrorists. The operation was called off at about 5 PM on 21 Jun 22. One AK series rifle, one pistol and other war like stores were recovered from the encounter location.
As per JKP records, the two neutralised terrorists belonged to proscribed terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed. They have been identified by JKP as Abid Ah Shiekh, a resident of Barpura, Pulwama and Majid Nazir Wani, a resident of Laddu, Awantipura, and were involved in the killing of Sub Inspector Farooq Ah mir of 23 Bn IRP at Karnaubal, Lethpora on 18 Jun 22.
