District Wushu Championship-2022 concludes at Shopian

SRINAGAR, JUNE 18: The District Shopian Wushu Championship 2022-23 held at Batapora Sports Stadium from 16th of this month concluded here today witnessing participation of around 350 athletes from different schools, clubs across Shopian district.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya  presided over the closing  ceremony function as chief guest  and SSP Shopian Tanushree was guest of honour along with ASP Afroz.

The chief guest applauded the participants and expressed his gratitude to the J&K Government and more specifically to the Sports Council for grooming the competitive spirit among the youth through this initiative. He also anticipated the need of organising these competitions in future to enlighten the society and prepare them physically and mentally to brave all the challenges whenever need arises.

The guests distributed mementos and medals among the winners of District Wushu Championship-2022.

Khelo India Shopian followed by BFC and 2nd runner up AMET were the recipients.

Among others present included Ghulam Rasool Khanday, Incharge Batpora Stadium Shopian and Rameez Ahmad Dar, Mentor  Khelo India Centre Shopian. Wushu athletes were also felicitated who represented the  country and UT respectively at various levels.

The participants thanked J&K Sports council for providing the best infrastructure at the village level beyond the expectation and vowed to work hard for the growth of sports in the area.

Among others who were present included Kuldeep Handoo, CEO  Wushu Association of J&K, Maqsood Rather, joint Secretary J&K Wushu Association and Irfan wani Wushu coach Srinagar and Ajaz Hassan Wushu coach Handwara.
