Srinagar, Jan 28: Three plays were staged on the second day of ‘Spring Theatre Festival’ being held at Tagore Hall here.

The plays included ‘Badaam Sunz Badaam Gooj’ by S P College (Writer / Director Afshana, Kashmiri), ‘Bey Bas Bachpan’ by MPML Hi Sec. School, Bagh e Dilawar Khan (Writer – Dr Shakeel Ahmad Khan, Director – Mr Sumeer Qasba in Urdu language) and ‘Acid Attack- a social evil’ by SSM College of Engineering (Writer- Sana Reehan, Director – Junaid, Hindi and Kashmiri).

The second edition of the festival is of seven days and is being organised by Actors Creative Theatre (ACT) in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL).

The plays were witnessed by a good gathering of audience and especially the students of different schools and colleges.

Dr Syed Ifthikhar from JKAACL was also present on the occasion.

Three plays will be staged on Tuesday, the 29th March, that include ‘Social Evils In Our Society’ (Kashmiri) by Mallinson Girls School, ‘Illicit Drug Use’ (Kashmiri) by Tyndale Biscoe School and ‘Chek Daar Paether’ (Kashmiri) by Azad Dramatic Cultural Club, Repore, Ganderbal.

Festival director Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan said they were impressed by the performances of the students. “I think they need a right platform to showcase their talent and we are making every effort to provide it,” he said.

“In Kashmir there has been a tradition of staging one play in a day but we are staging three or four plays, which gives artists a chance to prepare sharply in a short span of time,” Khan said.
