The First iteration of General Bipin Rawat Memorial cricket tournament, was inaugurated by Mendhar Gunners under the aegis of Ace of Spades Gunners today at OP Hill stadium Mendhar.
About 30 teams of border villages of Mendhar, Rajouri & Poonch areas are participating in this tournament which is being conducted on a knock out basis. The inaugural match of tournament was played between Dream 11 & 11 Star Gursai team.
Mendhar Gunners Offg commanding officer inaugurated the tournament and set the inaugural match in motion, speaking on the occasion, he encouraged the youth to actively participate in various sports competitions .The cricket tournament is being organized by Mendhar Youth lead by Pankaj Sharma & Shri Balram Sharma ,President , Snatan Dharam Sabha Mendhar with assistance from Mendhar Gunners to create a conducive atmosphere for youth. He also hoped that the youth of Mendhar may join UT or national teams in the future.
The tournament is a homage to the late Gen Bipin Rawat , CDS and is a testimony of Indian Army’s commitment to provide a platform to the youth of J&K, so that they can showcase their hidden talent & channelise their energy in a positive manner.
