Police arrests 05 persons for illegal mining and transportation of raw materials in Budgam

April 20: Police in Budgam have seized six vehicles and arrested five persons involved in extraction/transportation of raw materials illegally extracted in Budgam.

Officers from Police Station Khansahab arrested five persons and seized 02 tippers and 04 tractors involved in extraction/transportation of raw materials illegally extracted from Nalah/streams in Budgam. The accused persons have been identified as Farooq Ahmed Mir son of Abdul Rehman Mir resident of Kanirah Budgam, Noor Mohammed Bhat son of Maqbool Bhat resident of Arigam Budgam, Showkat Ahmed Malla son of Ghulam Ahmed Malla resident of Dreygam, Arampora, Mohammed Ashiq Ganie son of Ghulam Hassan Ganie resident of Kalichipora Budgam and Ghulam Hassan Mir son of Abdul Ganie Mir resident of Burgoo Budgam. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 55/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Khanshab and investigation has been initiated.

Budgam Police requests the people of area not to indulge in illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules.

Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
