Highlights voter awareness and inclusivity measures for upcoming Assembly Elections
SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 07: District Election Officer (DEO) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar today participated in a major awareness programme held at Zainapora, Shopian, organized under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative, which focused on raising awareness about the upcoming Assembly Elections 2024, with an emphasis on increased voter participation.
The event also featured Nukkad Natak, presented by local artists emphasizing the electoral theme.
In his address, DC highlighted the importance of voting and the various initiatives being taken to ensure maximum voter participation, especially for the elderly and Persons with Disabilities (PwD).
He urged citizens to actively participate in the democratic process, stressing the availability of home voting process and the enhanced accessibility for vulnerable groups.
Across the district, other SVEEP activities were held at various other places as well, including a Cycle Rally, organized by the Electoral Literacy Clubs of HSS Vehil, where students and youth from the area actively participated, promoting the message of voter awareness. Public announcements were made throughout the rally to encourage electoral participation.
A symposium was also held at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Shopian, where students and local residents engaged in discussions about the importance of voting and the facilities available to ensure a smooth electoral process for all.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, furthering the goal of making every vote count in the upcoming elections.
